The Ecole Normale de Musique, Perpetuating the French Tradition
Nearly a century old, this completely private establishment was founded in 1919 and continues to fulfil the dream of its founder, Alfred Cortot: spreading the French repertoire worldwide and training high quality musicians.
Located in the 17th arrondissement of Paris, the school is nestled in a 19th century mansion, parts of which are classified historical monuments. The goal of founders Alfred Cortot and Auguste Mangeot was first and foremost to disseminate French Culture worldwide through the direct education of foreign students in Paris. This will explain why the school has always welcomed many students from around the world. Three-quarters of its thousand students every year are now foreigners and fifty nationalities are represented.
